Objectives: to examine the reality of learning pronunciation of first-year English majors at Dong A University, to identify the common pronunciation mistakes made by first-year English majors at Dong A University, to find out possible solutions to students’ pronunciation problems.
Materials and Method: 100 first-year students from five classes at Faculty of English Language and Culture.
Results: Ending sounds and vowels were the common pronunciation mistakes made by first-year English majors: 78%.
Conclusion: Ending sounds accounted for 42% and vowels accounted for 36% in English pronunciation mistakes.
